My approach to tutoring focusses on core subject knowledge and skills to develop confidence, teaching students to anticipate marking schemes, and increasing individual capacity for lifelong learning. I have a passion for teaching and learning, and I am particularly keen to support students with special educational needs.
I started teaching at the age of 22 and have now taught for 24 years, across secondary schools in Brighton and Hove, West and East Sussex. I have spent the last 12 years working in an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ school and sixth form college.
I have held roles as Head of Biology, KS3 Curriculum Leader, Director of Faculty, Head of Physics and Head of Science, and have accumulated more than 18, 000 teaching hours since 2003. As a Head of Science with both school and college responsibility, my team routinely achieved results in the top 25% nationally for GCSE and in the top 10% across the A-Level subjects (compared to other state AND private schools).
